Job Description
The company We're a small, scrappy, asynchronous, remote-first team made up of doctors, medical students, developers and designers. Geeky Medics is entirely bootstrapped and profitable, having grown steadily since its founding 13 years ago. Our pace of growth has increased significantly in the last two years, which is why we're now looking to expand the team.
The platform The Geeky Medics platform (https://app.geekymedics.com) helps healthcare students and professionals (predominantly medical students/doctors) practise their clinical skills and refine their knowledge. This includes a quiz, flashcard and interactive notebook element to the platform, as well as integrations via API to a native iOS and Android app. We also have several innovative AI features, such as the ability to chat with virtual patients. In terms of scale, we have hundreds of thousands of users and are one of the most trusted brands in the space.
The stack
Backend: Django, Postgres Frontend: Bootstrap (v5) and JavaScript
Technical skills We‘re looking to add an additional experienced Django developer to our small team. The role would involve developing new features for the platform and refining other backend platform elements. It would be desirable to find someone who is also comfortable dabbling in HTML/CSS (Bootstrap 5) and JavaScript to put together a functional first draft of an interface, which can then be handed over to a dedicated front-end developer to do the UI/UX magic.
The job Part-time, asynchronous remote contractor role for between 2-4 days a week. Highly flexible working pattern due to async first team culture.
Pay Pay will be either hourly or day rate-based, depending on the developer's preference. The specific rate will be based on further discussions at the interview, including the level of experience.
Communication skills Solid communication skills are essential in the context of remote asynchronous work, so it’s something we really value.
